Neil is an executive coach who works with senior leaders to identify incremental improvements they can make to their approach and performance. He coaches across private, public and third sector organisations, taking a pragmatic, client-centred approach that focuses on real-world behaviour as well as the underlying thinking that enhances or interferes with performance.
Neil has extensive experience coaching senior executives and Board members, senior Civil Servants and military officers up to 2-star Generals. In addition he frequently works with two leading UK Business Schools on leadership development programmes, both with their executive MBA students and on Customised Executive Development programmes for multi-national clients.
Neil’s business insight is reinforced by his consultancy work on organisational development and organisational effectiveness. As the former Practice Leader for Organisational Effectiveness at SHL Group plc Neil has 25 years management consultancy experience helping major organisations in the UK, Western and Eastern Europe, Middle and Far East, and Africa to improve their organisational effectiveness. Significant projects have included supporting the expansion of a global soft-drinks brand across Eastern Europe; a world-wide leadership capability audit for a global Hotels brand; Board-level strategy development for a UK regulator; and restructuring of UK police Counter-Terrorism capability to tackle jihadi terrorism.
Qualifications:
Neil gained an MA(Hons) in Psychology from Aberdeen University, and an MSc in Industrial Psychology from Hull University. He is qualified to use a wide range of psychometric instruments including Wave, OPQ, MBTI, Firo-B, the Hogan suite, Strengthscope, and TalentQ Dimensions. He is an experienced business process analyst, a registered Prince2 Practitioner, and has undertaken an ILM L7 Certificate in Coaching Psychology accredited by Middlesex University.
Public Roles
In addition to his coaching and consultancy work Neil is an unpaid Director of a not-for-profit Housing company, providing low-cost housing intended for elderly residents and first-time buyers.
