Jo is an executive coach and organisational psychologist. She has been a qualified business psychologist for over 20 years, working in commercial management, business education and consultancy. Jo started her business career in retail, working for House of Fraser and Debenhams in commercial and project management roles. She went on to teach first at Oxford Brookes Business School, and then Surrey Business School.
After spending 10 years in academia Jo joined SHL in their consultancy division delivering assessment and development assignments for a wide range of clients. Jo left SHL in 2003 to focus on executive assessment and selection, coaching, leadership development and organisational development.
Jo has coached many students transitioning into high performing roles as well as middle managers moving into senior management in a wide range of organisations. She focuses on working with individuals to identify their personal leadership style and establish the roles and organisations that will best fit their ways of working.
Jo’s coaching style is to work collaboratively to clarify business and leadership challenges through careful questioning and then jointly develop a plan to address identified issues and development needs. Her aim in coaching is to help coachees improve their job performance and career success through targeted discussion as well as providing necessary support, re-framing and encouragement.
In addition to challenging coachees to consider new perspectives on themselves, she brings obvious enthusiasm (and sometimes a little humour) to her coaching conversations.
